Stephanie Mangano IN Saturday Night Fever
“Williams brings nuance and life to Stephanie, taking the hardest, most real choices while sending songs like “What Kind of Fool” (originally a Barry Gibb/Barbra Streisand duet) into the stratosphere. Their voices blend beautifully on the David Abbinanti songs original to the show like “100 Reasons.” Tony and Stephanie Magano’s (Dionysia Williams) delectation of the Latin Hustle versus the New York Hustle and the Tango Hustle as they effortlessly slip between the varying styles of spins, is one of many perfect winks to the disco heads.” -COLUMBUS UNDERGROUND
“Dionysia Williams also projects a radiant voice and wry vulnerability as upwardly mobile Stephanie Mangano, who overcomes her initial coolness to become Tony’s dance partner. Williams’ rich rendition of “What Kind of Fool” is lovely. Together, Corbin and Williams generate convincing chemistry in song and dance. Their alternating moments of interior reflection while having coffee on a hesitant first “date” fulfills the dramatic and musical potential of “100 Reasons,” one of the best musical-theater songs by Davi Abbinanti added to the stage version to deepen the narrative. When Corbin and Williams move together so gracefully to “More Than a Woman,” it’s heaven – and a rare moment when the much-revised stage version approaches the superior and darker 1977 film.” -THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
CATHERINE IN PIPPIN
“Williams’ Catherine has an appealing chemistry with Payne, making home and family seem appealing even in the face of the ribald excitement of the speeding theatrical life, and shines when she gets to unleash that energy as part of the ensemble.” -COLUMBUS UNDERGROUND
“Williams and Payne forge a solid chemistry as her character helps Pippin define who he is and who he should be.” -BROADWAY WORLD
FORBIDDEN BROADWAY GREATEST HITS VOL. 1
“The impersonations are spot on. Liz Wheeler captures the diva in Barbra Streisand, while Dionysia Williams finds just the right mannerisms in an aging Annie singing “I’m 30 years old, tomorrow” and a gushing, chirping Liza Minnelli in Liza One Note (to the tune of Johnny One Note). If you’ve been wondering where all the gravel went that was dredged up from the Scioto River Downtown, I solved the mystery early in the first act: Most of it fills Dionysia Williams’ voice as she expertly incarnates Carol Channing while belting out (make that rasping out) Dolly is a Girl’s Best Friend to the tune of that Diamonds ... song from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, her early hit years before Hello, Dolly!” -THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
